Klaus and Deloyce have reserved a "Conrad-Cornell" table in some of the areas at the Ratskeller right at Marienplatz in the center of Munich for anytime after 6;30pm. Just ask the waiters for the table. Marienplatz can easily be reached by S- or U-Bahn public transportation.

In addition to this posting Deloyce also tries to reach all Cornellians and Friends in the greater Munich area by e-mail. Please do help her out if you can to have a complete and accurate (e-)mailing list of Cornell alumni in the greater Munich area.

July 2019 07/18/2019 The Munich Chapter again is extending invitations, as during the last many years, for the "Summer Quarterly" to all interested Cornellians and friends.

This annual Cornell Beer Garden “get-together” in Munich is again be taking place in the Hirschgarten, (www.hirschgarten.de) any time after 6:00 p.m. Directions and parking are also given in the English version on the Hirschgarten website.  It gives the S-Bahn directions as well – it is important that the correct stop is “Laim” and not the “Hirschgarten” stop! In case of bad weather Deloyce and Klaus have reserved a table either under an awning, or indoors.  The reservation is done under the name “Cornell-Conrad.”

Additional Info: The event will be a special presentation by fellow Cornellian Eberhard Wimmer (M.Arch '85), the architect of the new, prize-winning church of St. Josef.

The presentation will be in German; questions (also in English) are welcome. The church has been featured  in a number of professional journals as well as being selected one of "Eight of the best new buildings in 2018" by the BBC.

Prizes include the Bayerischer Holzbau Preis and "Bundespreis an HolzbauPlus 2018". To attend please RSVP to Deloyce Conrad no later than July 5th, 2019. She will provide you with exact street address as well as the "Navi Details" for the parking lot.

Cologne Cathedral
on Saturday, July 6th, at 3:20 pm

We will explore the fascinating history of the Dom, discover unknown rooms at the towers with workshops and warehouses of the Dombauhütte and enjoy one of the most spectacular views Cologne can offer at an exclusive, guided rooftop tour of the Cologne Cathedral on Saturday, 6 July 2019 at 3.20 pm.

Meeting time at the western front of the Dome in front of the central main entrance is at 3.20 pm. The tour will start at 3.30 pm.

The participation fee for non-members of the German Friends of LSE is €10, which we ask you to transfer to our bank account IBAN: DE57300700240612018200, or by Paypal to info@lsealumni.de. Please provide as reference your name + Cologne Cathedral tour July 2019. Kindly note, that a place at the tour is only guaranteed once we have received the fee.

As there is no guarantee to use the elevator and we might be required to climb 240 steps by foot, we ask you to wear appropriate shoes. Please also keep in mind, that you should not suffer from vertigo and need to be at least 16 to join the tour.

For this Stammtisch, we have a discounted rate for the wine tasting for those who would like to participate of 20€.

The 28th annual Cornell Weekend of the Cornell Club of Germany will resume in the west of Germany, in the city of Aachen in the German federal state of North-Rhine Westphalia. All interested Cornellians are invited and asked to participate.  Preparations  are complete for the the program, the agenda for the annual meeting, the registration form and of course the official invitation have been published. You may also register with the CornellConnect event registration.

The president of the Cornell Club of Germany, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Frizemeyer has extended The Presidents Seasons Greetings to all Cornellians in Germany. Wolfgang is serving his last term as president and will handover this role next May in Aachen during the 28th Annual General Meeting to his follower as president, Volkmar Hellmich. As a nice gesture Wolfgang has provided a list of all annual get togethers since the Club was founded in 1991.
