The third regular get-together of the Rhein-Ruhr Chapter in 2004 is planned for the end of November and Detlef Rahmann invites all interested Cornellians to meet at 19:30 at the "Zicke" tavern, Bäckerstraße 5a, 40213 Düsseldorf, Tel. 0211/324056.

It's Zinck's Night again, the big annual Cornell event celebrated around the world on the third Thursday in October.

Klaus and Deloyce Conrad (M.S.'60) of the Munich Chapter are calling all interested Cornellians to meet again at the traditional tavern "Zum Straubinger" at Blumenstr. 5 (near the Viktualien Markt). anytime after 6:30 p.m.," depending on when you can make it!

There will be no fixed program, but, perhaps we can arrange to move around a bit, from one place to another, in order to get (better) acquainted with our fellow Cornellians.

September 2004 21/09/2004 The second regular get-together of the Rhein-Ruhr Chapter in 2004 will take place in Düsseldorf. Detlef Rahmann invites all interested Cornellians to participate and you may please call or mail Detlef for further information.
July 2004 22/07/2004 Its time again for the traditional(!) summer beer-garden-get-together of the the Munich sub-chapter for Cornell Alumni and Friends. It will take place again at the Hirschgarten Beergarten (within easy walking distance of the S Bahn Station Laim -- yes, this is your chance again to leave your car at home and drink as much good Bavarian beer as you like!!!). As last year Klaus and Deloyce Conrad plan to hold down a table or two. Starting time is around 6:00 p.m. so just come and join, depending on when you get off from work, or off the plane, or whatever. As the weather is so unpredictable this summer tables are reserved indoors. But we just might be able to sit outside.

The 13th annual Cornell Weekend of the Cornell Club of Germany is taking place in the Rhine-Ruhr area. Please find here the invitation.

This years weekend will again be different, especially taking as theme this year "Structural Change in a wild part of Germany", and we all are sure that it will match those recent annual meetings as the exiting meeting last year in Vienna, the very cultural in 2002 in Berlin, the very special 2001 on Rügen Island at the Baltic See Shore in Northeastern Germany or the wonderful weekend in 2000 at Lake Constance in Southwestern Germany, as well as those great meetings before (Frankfurt 1999, Dresden 1998, Hamburg 1997, Luxembourg 1996, Ammersee 1995, Bonn 1994, Heidelberg 1993, Wiesbaden 1992).

This years event is being organized locally by our by our co-alumni of the Rhine-Ruhr chapter, headed by Detlef Rahman and the venue will take place at Hotel Landhaus Milser, Zur Sandmühle, 47259 Duisburg.

1. Application and Fees for Participants

For particpation in this years program a fee fo EUR 145,-- per person with rebates for spouses and children is raised which will cover all meals, bus tours, guide and entry fees. More details please find in the application form, which you may download here, fill out and send to Wolfgang Fritzemeyer, president of the Cornell Club of Germany.

2. Hotel

For Lodging at Hotel Landhaus Milser a block of Rooms has been reserved, Price: EUR 80,-- for a single and EUR 100,-- for a double (Price per room and night inclusive breackfast buffet).

3. The Programme

3.1 Friday, June 11th, 2004

We will start this years official program (download here) at the Hotel Landhaus Milser 19:30.

After the opening an evening dinner will bring new and old Cornellians back togehter again. A major part of the evening program will be perfomed by Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Noll, chairman of the Montan-Grundstücksgesellschaft mbH, who will speak about "Das Ruhrgebiet - Ein wildes Stück Deutschland".

3.2 Saturday, June 12th, 2004

The morning will be spend with breackfast and our annual membership meeting will start at 9:30 at Hotel Landhaus Milser lasting until about 10:45. The agenda you may find here.

At 11:00 we will board a bus for a short sightseeing tour to interesting spots of the "Ruhrgebiet".

Lunch is planned during a boat tour around the Duisburg harbour, lasting from 13:00 to 15:00.

Around 15:30 we will go on by bus to the "Landschaftspark Dusiburg-Nord" for a guided tour through a recreational area that in the past was a gigantic steel production facility, representing the structural change of the region, after which we will return to the hotel.

For the evening we will disembark from the hotel at 19:00 towards the restaurant Parkhaus Hügel in Essen-Baldeney. After aperitif and formal dinner,. the evenings speaker will be co-alumnus Dr. Dr. Achim Brünger aboutGesunde Ernährung für Cornellianer im 21. Jahrhundert“

3.3 Sunday, June 13th, 2004

At 9:30 am we will start our traditional "Big Red Brunch" at the Hotel Landhaus Milser. The official end of the weekend will be around 11:00 am. For a "cultural" closing of this years Cornell Weekend there will be the opportunity for a museum visit in the afternoon.

Wolfgang, Detlef Rahmann and the preparation team have completed the final touches of the program and you can download it here. Invitations have been sent now (5/14/2004) by mail.

April 2004 20/04/2004 The first regular get-together of the Rhein-Ruhr Chapter in 2004 is coming up and Detlef Rahmann invites all interested Cornellians for April 20th, 2004, to assemble in Düsseldorf. Details regarding the meeting place will be given soon. Please check here again and call or mail Detlef for further information.

Klaus and Deloyce Conrad (M.S.'60) of the Munich Chapter are calling you to paritcipate in a "early" quarterly Meeting at "Wirtshaus zum Straubinger", Blumenstr. 5 80331 München. You can easily reach it from Marienplatz in the center of Munich (5 min. walk)

This meeting will be special because it will host a Group of "German House" Cornell Students presently on visit in Munich.

You may also check the "Straubinger" website for directions. In addition Deloyce Conrad (B.S.'59) may try to reach all Cornellians and Friends in the greater Munich area by e-mail to see who will be coming.
