November 2008 ?? Detlef Rahmann, the coordinator of the Rhein-Ruhr Chapter, has announced plans for a get togehter around Thanksgiving. Please already mark your calendars for the 2008 Zinck's Night on the third Thursday in October -- just as every year! Klaus Conrad (M.S.'60) and Deloyce Conrad (B.S.'59) of the Munich Chapter have reserved tables at the "Ratskeller" under townhall at Marienplatz, right in the center of town. They are inviting all intested Cornellians to join fellow alumni, spouses and friends around the world for the annual celebration of the

International Spirit of Zinck’s Night

Please indicat to the waiter "The Cornell University / Conrad Table" and you will be directed to the right spot. In addition to this posting Deloyce will also try to reach all Cornellians and Friends in the greater Munich area by e-mail. Please do help her out if you can to have a complete and accurate (e-)mailing list of Cornell alumni in the greater Munich area.

September 2008 ?? Plans for a Fall regular quarterly get together of the Rhein-Ruhr Chapter have been announced by Detlef Rahmann. No detailed date and location is available yet, but that info shall be placed here after the annual Cornell meeting in May. July 2008 ?? Klaus and Deloyce Conrad are announcing early plans for the "Summer Quaterly" of the Munich Chapter. It will most liekely take place just as every year in form of a beer-garden "event" at the Hirschgarten location just off the "Laim" S-Bahn train station in the western section of Munich. For those who never participated in previous years in the "Hirschgarten-Quarterly" here you can find direction. As soon as date and time are fixed they will be made available here. The 17th annual Cornell Weekend of the Cornell Club of Germany will take place earlier this year as compared to most previous years and you are asked to mark this date it in your calendar, if you did not got a chance to do it up now.

It was decided two years ago in Stuttgart to arrange a joint meeting with the Swiss Cornell Alumni, as soon as that may become feasible. And now, this year it will happen. In addition the Austrian Cornell Alumni are invited to the 2008 Meeting as well.

This years annual Cornell weekend will resume in the Swiss village of Appenzell, north of Zurich, Switzerland, and just south of Lake Constance. Preparations are well under way and additional material about the agenda, and locations and of course the official invitation will be published soon and placed here.

Favourable rates have been negotiated for both hotels (per person and night, including a rich breakfast buffet):

March 2008 05/03/2008 The Rhine-Main Chapter is rejuvenating its activities, organizes a cultural event this quarter and is inviting all interested Cornellians to a visit of the Schirn Kunsthalle Exhibition "Impressionistinnen". Volkmar Hellmich asks you to meet at 8pm CET at the "Treffpunkt", a pink coloured pillar at the entrance of the "Schirn Kunsthalle" on that Wednesday evening. There will be a follow-up on March, 3rd, with more information regarding the restaurant for those of you that would like to join for dinner. March 2008 04/03/2008 The first 2008 "Quarterly" of the Munich Chapter is again organized by Klaus and Deloyce Conrad . They have reserved the “Hubertus Zimmer” at "Donisl's" (just off Marienplatz in downtown Munich) for arivals any time after 6:30 p.m. All interested Cornellians are invited to join the meeting that evening. February 2008 12/02/2008 Diverting from the original plan to meet in Cologne, Detlef Rahmann, the coordinator ot the Rhine-Ruhr chapter, invites all interested Cornellians to a joint evening dinner at the "Meerbar" Restaurant, located in the Düsseldorf Rhine harbour area, Neuer Zollhof 1-3, Tel: +49 (0) 211-3398410. The "Meerbar" is situated in the famous "Frank-Gehry-Skyrises", marked and recognized by their asymmetic architecture. Please ask for reservations under "Rahmann/Cornell". For those who arive by car, please look for the public underground garage which you may enter at Neuer Zollhof 1.
