Please already mark your calendars for the 2013 Zinck's Night on the third Thursday in October -- just as every year! Klaus Conrad (M.S.'60) and Deloyce Conrad (B.S.'59) of the Munich Chapter usually reserve a table in some of the areas at the Ratskeller right at Marienplatz in the center of Munich for anytime after 6;30pm. Marienplatz can easily be reached by S- or U-Bahn public transportation.

Deloyce and Klaus are usually inviting all intested Cornellians to join fellow alumni, spouses and friends around the world for the annual celebration of the

International Spirit of Zinck’s Night

Following the reopening of the Lenbachhaus after almost 4 years of renovation by the renowned architects Foster +Partner the Cornell Munich Chapter is pleased to invite you to a guided tour of the building and its Art collections in German language organized by Evelyn Meierholzner

Sunday, September 8th , 11:15 am to approx. 1 pm.

The fee for the tour will be 10 € plus the entrance fee for the Lenbachhaus (Standard 10 €, Reduced 5 € - for reductions and annual cards please refer to http://www.lenbachhaus.de/information/tickets/- tickets include an audio guide in German and English) charged in cash prior to the tour.

We shall meet at the entrance of the museum 15 minutes prior to departure (Lenbachhaus, Luisenstrasse 33, 80333 Munich, www.lenbachhaus.de). For those who would like to join for lunch after the guided tour we shall make reservations at the Café Ella in the annex to the museum building on the terrace with a spectacular view of the Königsplatz (http://www.ella-lenbachhaus.com/) at 1 pm (or inside depending on weather conditions).

The invitation also extends to the members of the Harvard Alumni Club Munich.

Klaus and Deloyce Conrad again as during the last many years are announcing plans for the "Summer Quarterly" of the Munich Chapter.

This annual Cornell beer garden “get-together” in Munich will take place in the Hirschgarten, (www.hirschgarten.de) any time after 6:30 p.m. Directions and parking are also given in the English version on the Hirschgarten website.  It gives the S-Bahn directions as well – it is important that the correct stop is “Laim” and not the “Hirschgarten” stop! In case of bad weather Deloyce and Klaus will reserve a table either under an awning, or indoors.  The reservation is under the name “Cornell-Conrad.”

Klaus and Deloyce Conrad have forwarded the invitation of the Harvard Club of Munich to a get-together on the occasion of the 1st Ivy Leagues Summer Drinks. Meeting place will be at Schumann's Bar (http://www.schumanns.de) at 7:00 p.m.

The Harvard Club is looking forward meeting alumni currently based in Munich and is extending the invitation to alumni of other Ivy League universities.

Dr. Martin Heckelmann of the Berlin Chapter is extending the invitation of the German Stanford Association to interested Cornellians for attending the upcoming Stanford Symphony Orchestra´s concert playing Beethoven starting at 6:00 p.m.

The Berlin Stanford alumni would like to meet with the musicians after the concert at Biergarten Zollpackhof in the area "Sunset" starting at 9:00 p.m..

In particular, they want to welcome the conductor Jindong Cai and honerable Ms. Bing - she and her husband sponsored the new fabulous Bing concert hall on the Stanford campus.

The 22nd annual Cornell Weekend of the Cornell Club of Germany is under preparation and you are asked to mark this date it in your calendar, if you did not got a chance to do it up now.

This years annual Cornell weekend will resume in the west of Germany, in the city of Cologne, Germany, right at the Rhine river. Preparations have been completed and the program, the agenda for the annual meeting, the registration form and of course the official invitation have been published. Friday, May 10th, 2013
After arrivals of the participants in the afternoon, the Weekend will start off on Friday evening at 19:00 with official welcome and opening of the annual event at Brauhaus Früh, Am Hof 12-18, 50667 Koeln.
At this place a festive evening dinner is waiting.

At about 20:30 a presentation will be given by local Alumnus Dr. Paul Paez-Maletz about "Cologne, its Past and Presence".

Saturday, May 11th, 2013
The annual membership meeting will take place at 8:30 on Saturday morning at the hotel. Please find here the agenda of the meeting

At about 10:30 the cultural progam will start. The will be a tour through the Cologne Cathedral and after we will stroll through the old city of Cologne before going on a boat ride on the Rhine river. On board of the ship we will also take a lunch. The afternoon program will close with a visit to the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum. Please take the details from the program.

The final highlight of the day will be at the hotel. At 19:00 the festive dinner will start with an Apero and during the course of the evening there will be a presentation by Thomas May, Secretary General of the Wissenschaftsrat (Council of Science and Humanities), on "The Internationalization of Learing and Research - Status and Perspectives" (in German)

Sunday, May 12th, 2013
At 9:00 am we will start our traditional "Big Red Brunch" at the hotel. There we will discuss any open issues left from the annual meeting. The official end of the weekend will be around 11:00 am.

You may end your stay in Cologne with visits at some of the famous Cologne museums.
